CFP Board circa 2008: Nicely Done Folks
For the uninitiated, CFP Board is the private regulatory agency serving the US CFP® community of over 57,000 financial advisory professionals. It owns the intellectual property rights to “CFP®” and “Certified Financial Planner™.” For over twenty years it has worked diligently to successfully establish these marks as the predominant and most esteemed credential in the financial planning universe.

Complementary currencies make a lot of sense. They enable exchanges between people that might otherwise be impossible. However, they seem to require something over and above primary trading currencies. They seem to require a certain attitude on the parts of the people using them.

How private is money? When can we legitimately intervene in another's financial decisions? Are there situations where we are duly justified in making unrequested comment? How about protecting ourselves from the self indulgences of others? Especially when our money interests contrast with public pressures? How can we express ourselves when our personal values conflict with those of others?

Back before the twin towers fell, it was considered de rigeur for up-and-coming financial planners to create a commercial site on the worldwide web. Andrew Gluck and others would help us in its design. With earnest hearts, the “new millennium” planner strove to divert some of the huge online population into a well-designed web spot where they might easily contact him by email for an appointment.
