The Colors Of Money: Going Mental
Ed Grimley, the Martin Short character from Saturday Night Live, used to dance around with a maniacal grin saying, “I’m going mental.” It was funny, but what he really meant was that he was letting go of his emotions. Sometimes it’s easy to confuse the two because they are so interdependent. What and how we think determines much of what and how we feel. This is especially true with our thoughts and feelings about money.
Here is a little exercise to help understand the difference. Close your eyes and imagine or visualize the color pale blue. Can you see or feel a pale light blue like on a clear summer sky? Are you visualizing or imagining?
Imagination is the faculty of emotions. Children, who often live in their world of imagination, master it. As we grow we are conditioned by convention and necessity to develop our mental faculties, which use visualization. Each has power and meaning. Images transcend time and space and have great inspirational feeling. Thoughts are mental constructs that carry much power and force. Think of how history has been determined in large part from the power of ideas.
The mental thought constructs we put out can greatly affect the course of our lives. Think of an elite skier carefully mapping the run in her mind right before the opening of the gate. She is visualizing the outcome she wants, willing it into existence. Can you recall a time when you thought something and shortly after that it became manifest?
Positive thought processes are constructive while negative thoughts limit our potential and create negative energy patterns that can be difficult to overcome. Salespeople understand this very well and there is an entire course of study that teaches the power of positive thought. When working with money positive energy brings positive outcomes.
Vows can be a powerful tool in directing this positive money energy. Always remember that any vow you make can be very powerful and must always be made with conscious choice, conscious will and in accordance with the highest good. Try this vow. “ More money is coming to me, beginning now, in a positive way, and I will enjoy receiving it.”
Now we are going mental.
